The programs run by EASC are designed to ensure that East African creators have the ownership, financing, and distribution support they need to tell their stories on their own terms — and share them with the world.

-
EAccelerate Fund
Dates: 2024 – Ongoing
The EAccelerate Fund is a program managed by Documentary Africa (DocA) on behalf of the East Africa Screen Collective (EASC). It builds on the foundations of the DW Akademie Film Development Fund, with a decolonial approach that places the design and management of film sector capacity-building tools in the hands of African organisations.
In 2024, the fund supported four alumni of the DW Akademie Film Development Fund in developing proof-of-concept short films based on their feature-length projects. A new call for the 2025 cycle is now open to East African filmmakers.

Export Missions
Program Dates: 2024 – Ongoing
EASC is taking alumni of its regional programs to leading global industry markets — including the Durban FilmMart (DFM) in 2024 and the European Film Market (EFM) in 2025 — to participate in market screenings, project pitches, and B2B meetings.
These initiatives are designed to connect East African filmmakers with international decision-makers, build co-production networks, and accelerate the path from development to distribution.
